PN58UCH - 2008 (58) Mercedes-Benz C Class 2148cc Diesel MANUAL
Hello, I bought a Mercedes-Benz C Class 2008 (58) plate last Thursday - it is a 2148cc diesel with a manual gearbox.

I am wondering if my vehicle has DPF and an EGR valve as if it does I will take it for regular long runs - I've checked a VIN coder website "carinfo.kiev.ua/cars/vin/mercedes/vin_check" , I've checked TWO VIN checker websites and neither show "code 474" - assumed NO DPF right? I called a main dealer today, main dealer Mercedes and supplied my registration -apparently my car DOES have a DPF?

Highly, highly unsure if my vehicle actually has a dpf now or not?

Could somebody please clarify this,

Thank you.

My vehicle:
Reg: PN58UCH (58 plate)
VIN: WDD2040072A244012

Kind regards,

Joe.

The car has two small exhaust pipes at the rear - ive attached a pic, they seem dirty? Ill have a look tomorrow to see how dirty - if im lookin under the bonnet where do I look? (not really the best with cars at all)

Kind regards,

Joe.

I would search Google images for you vehicles exhaust , that way you know what to look for.

Normally from the engine backwards you have the "cat" which has sensors plugged into it , followed by the DPF which should have some small diameter external pipework.

Another was is to plug in a diagnostic tool and check the DPF fill levels , no levels of no comms then no DPF.

I very much doubt it DPFs were available as an extra on some cars before they became mandatory around 2009. As above check the V5 or build list which is always worth having to see how your car was specified new

Unlikely yours will have a DPF. Very easy to check though, as others have stated. Could also try ULEZ compliance check?
Even with a DPF it isn't eu6.

Looking at the exhaust isn't definitive.
If you see the pipework at the rear box, it will have ben manufactured with a DPF, but you can't see inside to tell if the DPF has been gutted, and the ECU mapped to suit.

Diagnostics will tell you from live readings if a DPF is active.
Every so often, as the fill level approaches 100% fill level, the regen will cause the DPF to rise significantly in temp. That's how I monitor my DPF regens.
Being paranoid of these things if it goes 600 miles between regens I would be looking for a failure of system somewhere.
With my simple Torque app I can monitor the temp at the DPF, the odometer tells me if it's gone too many miles. The ECU causes a regen at approx 585 miles no matter the fill level.

Start by looking for a back box with 3 tap ins. 2 are for pressure (back to he DP pressure sensor, t'other for the temperature probe.
These were fitted as an option since 2004. If your lucky it wasn't opted for.
