Anyone know?
I've had a number occasions in the last couple of weeks where I've got "Speedtronic Inoperative" on the dash. It first came on after 1/2 an hour's drive, then 10 mins then almost immediately. I Came back from the Airport on Sunday and the warning was already up when the car arrived from the storage place 1/4 mile away. Hence I figured, as a non intermittent fault, it wouldn't be hard to trace.
I couldn't identify a specific cause, it just dropped out whilst travelling using the cruise control at 80. Round town it flashed up and I wasn't even using it, I hadn't even braked, just dawdling along at 35. ESP/ABS etc are all happy so I'm assuming sensors etc are ok.

In any case its due a "D+ now" so the dealer can sort it but my concern is that since Sunday night it's been fine - no warnings.

So, will the dealer be able to interrogate the system and identify the culprit or does the trail go cold the moment I turn off the ignition?

I'm a bit worried since I only have 3-4 months left on my extended warranty so if it vanishes for a bit I could end up footing the bill myself when it returns.
thanks
JB

Speedtronic, including tiptronic functions are disabled when the gearbox ECU detects a fault. In my case, all faults were logged (I drove around for quite some time with the diagnostics plugged in looking for non-logged faults, but none came up).

I have read of Speedtronic faults on this board, so a good start is to do a search.

Thanks - I'll do a search. I didn't think to try the tiptronic as I almost never use it, but I will if it comes up again.
It's off to Derwent (or whatever they're called this week) soon anyway, just trying to eak a few 'free' weeks before the service - probably take it to 300 miles or so over then give in.

I had a quick scan and most failures seem to come along with limp home mode. Commonly gearbox faults or MAS failure.
Odd as other than the speedtronic issue she's running sweet, with no other warnings.

Not sure how the Speedtronic works (older systems used vacuums), but I would guess the ECU and EGS controllers work together (I say this because on the diagnostics, you can control the engine and vehicle speed via the computer interface). Take some photos of the message and present them on your service so you have proof of the fault (especially if no fault is logged) and that it was raised, so if something goes bang after your warranty expires, you have comeback.
