I have just booked my car in to my local indy and have been given a quote of £350 (Inc. VAT) for the following works:

Fit new discs (Supplied to garage by me)
New Track Rods and Track Rod Ends
New Anti roll bar bushes
New front tyres x 2
New brakelight
Free car wash (thrown in for free !)

What do you think ???? Is that cheap or about normal ?

Just remember, they will be using "cheap" parts, you get what you pay for!

Ask them who's parts they will be using, there is little difference in the MB price of the parts and they do get a discount from MB, it looks OK to me

I have just spoke to the garage and he has told me that he has replaced the above and there is still vibration coming from the front ?

The lower control arm rubbers are split but he has said that this will make little difference hence I have not opted for them to be done.

He is going to ring me back shortly after he has tested it some more....opinions... ?

Tyres will vibrate at say 30mph and upward and maybe you can drive through it and out.

Unless he means when braking, and even new disc can fail

Okay, he said that there is no knocking on the suspension now and it is a lot more comfortable to drive however, he said that there was still a slight vibration when braking (even though, it has new mintex front discs and pads). The vibration is sometimes through the pedal and sometimes not.

He said this could be a culmination of two intermittent problems, first one being warped rear discs however, they spin freely with no resistance when up on the ramp.

He also said it is more likely to be the lower control arms. I have said I will take it tonight and he is going to give me a price for both of these works. Any ideas/help ?

If you can feel it through the steering then disc, they could be not bedded in yet and they do need quite a few miles to bed in across the full face of the disc.

Good luck with it:D

They will spin freely on the ramp until some brake pressure is applied through the pedal. The way to check it is to use a vice grips on the flexi pipes at the rear, one at a time (dont clamp them too tight or you will damage the pipe) then try and see if the vibration is gone. Depending on which one ,if any is warped, this will tell you which one

This is nothing to do with any control arms at all
