Door and Dash weirdness - or is t me?

For various reasons I always put the key in the ignition of my 1998/9 C200 W202 before getting into the car.

Up until a couple of weeks back I'm absolutely certain that the dashboard LCDs - temp/mileometer etc - didn't come on until I put the key in.

Now they come on as soon as I open the door. Only happens with the drivers door so perhaps I've enabled something without realising it. If I get in, shut the door and do not put the key in then the LCDs go out after about 20 seconds as normal when removing key.

Am I going mad or have I got another gremlin?

My dash lcd's come on when the drivers door is opened. Guess you just didn't notice them come on before!
