This might help some owners, I have a 1988 230TE and the drivers door would unlock but not lock. I asked serveral breakers for door locks and a key and got nothing.
Today I took the passenger door lock out and put it on the drivers door so now I can lock and unlock the drivers door. Simple and its saved some dosh.

Just thought I'd share this info.

theres a small grub screw on the door shut behind a small plastic tab, remove the grub then pull the handle towards the back of the car, the lock part comes lose, then put key in lock and turn to release the lock part.
