Door mirror problems W210

Still having problems with my door mirrors depsite MB looking at it twice.

LH mirror doesnt return to correct position after reversing, i really dont want the moving when reversing feature anyhow would much prefer it just stays where its put , can i disable this at all???

RH mirror has the coating presumably the auto dim stuff coming off , can the rest of this be stripped off with chemicals ??

Do you have a memory sytem that you can store the corrct place, if you do push the store button to release and re store.. try it .Malcolm

forgot to add that Halfords sell replacement self adhesive mirrors for most cars, cost £10 the de froster will still work, but at £90 saving who cares about the dimming. Malcolm

Tried that but the mirror pulses all over the place when you go into reverse and wont go back to the preset position.

Have you been through the settings system. Didn't have memory on the 210 but you can switch the function off on the 211.
Seems a shame though. It should be possible to lubricate the mechanism so it works correctly.
This may be another 'dealer hasn't a clue' issue and you'd be better with a specialist.
Also, it may be simpler and cheaper to get replacement mirrors from a breaker.

Its a known fault apparently its been well lubricated and they have looked at it twice but bearing in mind it will probably cost them money arent interested in fixing it , there must be a way of simply turning the feature off or setting the mirror to the correct position and unplugging the electrics alltogether

Have you had a fault code read out, if one showed B1000 it would be a faulty door control module

depress the RH door mirror control button - as if you were going to adjust it. The LH mirror will not move when you select reverse.

thats it still does it sometimes (rarely) though but its lots better.
