door pins

I am looking to change the black plastic door pins for chrome ones.I think you twist and pull the old ones off,does anyone know if the rings on the door card come off without removing the card.

Hi John these things are often a push in fit with claws that open up once in.

You could try with a blunt blade and you will soon know if they will out.

On my W209 they unscrewed. Got chrome pins and surrounds off of flea bay.

Hi John, I'm in the process of doing the same, although I intend to make mine from 316 Stainless steel and mirror polish them with my trusty dremel. A little tip - find a stout drinking straw or similar, cut down 1cm in four places and splay out. Slide this 'tube' over the pin and it will hold the corresponding rod in place while you remove the door pin. You do not want the threaded rod inside the door to fall away otherwise you will have to remove the door card to retrieve it. When you've replaced the pins, you can tackle the surrounds.
