If it's got the Premium Sound System with the amp in the rear well by the petrol filler then I believe the front door speakers are mid-bass units and they're about 6" in diameter

aye it has , thanx , after some research i think the maximum the doors can take are 6.5" speakers , so im considering getting some component speakers as coaxail ones are no use there , then replacing the dash and rear shelf ones with rainbow 120mm upgrades , i already have a great headunit , in the boot FLI active sub , also have a vibe line driver , just need a 6 channel amp and a load of rewiring done + the right speakers to get a very good system :)

I think you'd be better off putting tweeters in the kicks, front of the door pocket, sail panel or in the standard speaker position and forgetting the rear speakers

This thread is interesting:

John won quite a few prizes with his Mercedes Coupe with this install. Your speakers may be different but the same principles apply

hey mate, i do i.c.e for a living and i personally own a mercedes c220 sport coupe, in which i have just (yesterday) installed rainbow components up front and getting coaxial speakers (rainbow) for the rear which will be run with a high pass filter, also have a 12' sub kicking about in the boot with a huge amp, sounds amazing if you want any advice let me know il do my best to help you out, i bought the adapter plates for the speakers but wanted to do a bit of experimentation so i cut into the original speaker frames to make a adapter, turned out great :)

im not going to change anything panel wise as i need to keep the car as factory as possible (due to what it is) , i might do some sound deadening but ill use the original speaker locations , i still believe using the rear speakers as the shape of the window on the coupe will reflect alot of mid/high noise from them to give a more 'filled' effect , the amp ill get will have crossovers on so ill adjust them so not to cancel sounds out from the sub although given the low range of the sub and the mid/high range of the 120mm rainbow KX series there wont be alot of conflict . im not out to build a competition system but at the same time i hate a 6x9 halfords boy system!. the door speaker location isnt perfect , but its fine for some mid woofer sounds. the bit im not looking forward to is all the wiring , its not hard , but just sooo time consuming :p
