Good morning all,

2001 230CLK Kompressor

The drivers door metal retaining strap (to stop the door opening too far) is making one hell of a noise and when looking into the mechanism the bottom bolt seems to be loose. I have tried tightening it but maybe the thread has stripped. Is it a major job to remove the door trim and are there any specific things I should be aware of when doing so?

Regards,

Andrew

...from what I've read...you need to be very careful now. If the strap becomes detached inside the door, it'll destroy the window channel and cause you a major headache (and expense).

Hi all,

Does anyone have a door strap parts list for the brackets that hold the mechanism to the inside of the door?

Cheers,

Andrew

Its fairly easy,

Remove the cover on the handle used to pull shut, there should be two screws under there, if it has a srs button on the top left then pop that off and possibly a screw under there. remove the little plastic bit around the lock on the right (one screw) and the triangle on the top left, (pull off at top). and then its held in by pop clips all the way round, carefully pull it of the door.

thats it in a nut shell!!

hope that helps.
