DPF Issues

Hi all

Apologies if this is in the wrong place, but here goes.

W204 om651 2010 c250

Had some fault codes recently, MB specialist said dpf sensor needed replacing, paid 218 for it and a diagnostic check. Same day, another codes in there, soot level not ok etc etc. Turns out intake mani needs replacing and bolt seized in gasket. 995 later new mani is on.

Same code comes on p2463 I believe, soot level not ok....

Checked data, 400% full, 17.8g soot 0.9g Ash. Today the car wouldn't regen whilst going 80 at 2500rpms.

Do those stats suggest the dpf needs replacing or does it just need forced regen? Have no power at all and should be 248bhp stage 1 remap and 550 lbs of torque, I don't want to spend much more as its starting to sting :,(

Hi, if soot content is at 400% I think it needs a forced regen, as long as the ECU won't start a regen for safety reasons (limp mode).
I'd say that the garage that made you pay all that money for nothing should solve the issue

Hi, something to check might be your thermostats (egr & main) as well as glow plugs and module. These play a part in the dpf regeneration process - the thermostats in ensuring the engine runs hot enough, and glow plugs in assisting the burn process.
On BMWs this is a common issue where the dpf blocks because of failing thermostats and glow plug modules. Assuming similar issues affecting mercs.

Just keep an eye on it as you want to ensure it does a regen on its own when required.

I did use a dpf specialist who came out and used some chemicals via a machine
