Draining a fuel tank

My neighbour is parting with his GLC on Monday, not before he put £100 worth of diesel in it. We,d like to get most of it back out , I've tried a Lidl extraction pump but it's hitting something in the tank and stopping any syphoning of fuel. Is the only other option the return pipe from the fuel filter ??

Take the pipe that come from the injector leak offs and put it into cans whilst the engine is running.

I managed to get about 30 litres out via the fuel filter,priming the ignition,before the battery went flat. The new owner will benefit from 3/4 of a tank full.

It's grim up north. Took about 30 mins ,so not much effort.

There's £120 worth in total.

Cans would be optimistic.
The leak off volume is only a fraction of the injected volume. You'd be burning a lot more than you'd be saving.
