Can anyone tell me how to drain the diesel from my 2006 E280 please. Have put £6 unleaded petrol in (approx 8 per cent mix). Many thanks

Fill it to the brim with diesel and keep it topped up for the next couple of hundred miles and you should be ok.

An E280 should have a 70l tank. With just over 6l of unleaded, as Blobcat says, Run it and keep topping up with diesel and you'll be fine. There is a lot said about damage caused by putting petrol in modern diesels. It may be the official line, but from personal experience, it's untrue. I know plenty of folk with new cdis, filled up with petrol (full tanks), run till they died, drained the tanks, refilled with diesel and they've been fine. You have nowhere near the concentrations they did so I wouldn't worry.

That was the only thread by that guy, he never posted back, so no news is good news,or:roll:

Certainly will not be any problem, if you do as said and fill right up, its all this green talk that is confusing, you need a black outlook.

I know still too few follow ups, I mainly added it to the post for the replies.

Zaplutus--I did same as you in my E220cdi est,in Spain a month ago.7 litres of unleaded went in before I realised, then filled tank to brim and no problem apart from trouble starting (occurred 3 times--turned over but would not fire until I floored the throttle).Kept tank full after that and now all is well.Happy motoring.

Nearly posted exactly the same as Blobcat earlier, though a bit unsure about modern diesel things. (and the response I may get for it :) )
Used to throw petrol into wagons years ago to stop the diesel from freezing.

Never did any harm then....

As mentioned, just top it up with the smelly oilly stuff

Thanks everybody for your replies and threads - thought I had ruined the engine and the prospect of a £3k repair bill paralysed me. Now realise that the reality is different. Have stopped getting cold sweats and started eating again!
