Now that cup holders abound in cars what do we all think about having a drink while we are driving along. Now I am not suggesting alcohol obvioulsy. But whilst I slung the snow off the car from the car park I had the foresight to take a drink with me. This I put in the cup holder (badly placed in SLK!) and it helped me get warm while i waited for the car to get warm. whilst i was sat at the lights i looked at the cup and thought that would be nice if i hadnt drunk it all.

it occurs to me that it is the same as using a phone while driving. but what about sat at the lights?

I was thinking that if a poilceman saw it he may think i would be tempted to drive and drink? so i could get done for having an empty cup in the cup holder rather than it falling off the seat and under the brake pedal.

or would they have to see you drink from it while you are moving? and is that as dangerous as using a phone? or is it worse as you could scald yourself if it spilled?

Any poilcemen want to let us know what the right view should be.

but dont stir it - he doesnt like it sweet....

I think at present the law follows common sense and they have to catch you drinking it. Otherwise they could do me for carrying my squash bat, sorry, racquet in the car on the premise that I might be having a quick knock up whilst driving.

At traffic lights, if you had a drink, then I think they could do you for not having proper control of the vehicle - the same could apply to fiddling with your radio or playing with the satnav.

My mate got pulled over by the fuzz (ouch!)a couple of years ago for eating a chocolate bar whilst driving. He got a caution for that and then argued that they didnt pull over people for smoking whilst driving - which is pretty much the same thing. His carefully reasoned argument then got him a ticket....

Once upon a time some guy was walking on a beach in the UK and found a bag of cocaine. a full pound so the story goes. He realised what it was and took it to the police station.

by pure randomness had he been pulled over en route to the police station would he have been believed ?

bit daft but makes you think a little.

Didn't a police officer in Hampshire have to applogise after booking a guy for eating a KitKat whilst driving?

I remember it hit the papers and all got dropped.

Surely it is better to have be a man in a girls car than a girl in a mans body?

They can cure that now you know. Oh I see they have fitted you onto a VW beetle. Nice bonnet. 8)

Numbnuts, you should know better than that by now; joining a forum in the
middle, with a totally unrelated negative post.
No wonder Sue, Joe and David are giving you a hard time.
The newer SLK seems very nice to me (but maybe a younger persons car)
The girly (hairdresser) image of the last one was just a motor magazine opinion.
I think that there maybe 'some' jealousy from a few persons that need more than
two seats. A two seater is not practical when you have a wife and kids.
But when they have grown up you can treat yourself to a two seater, and
get 'her indoors' a Focus

Had to add a bit. anyone see the story of the lady from newcastle get find £60 for eating an apple while driving? I think eating an apple or taking a sip can hardly be classed as a real problem. The phone is a different issue coz people use them when they should be concentrating on driving which is why they make you have the hands free kit. but you wont try to steer, change gear, mirror, signal and move whilst holding scalding hot coffee will you? Have you seen anyone gesticulating whilst on the handsfree car phone yet? I had a right old chuckle to myself watching some chronologically advanced male explain to someone that they were obvioulsy inept and wrong and that they should spend more time concentrating on whatever it was they were doing than wasting his time by asking him to plat moondust. At least i thinks thats what his lips were saying, his hands were certainly conducting Elgar's Enigma variations in 3 different countries at the same time. He also went 73 different shades of purple in the 5 mins of that M1 bridge repair near Meadowhall. Perhaps it was the fact he was driving a new 1 series BM?

I see the beetle pic has departed. Bye and thanks for coming, you were a great laugh.

It occurs to me that I could be a hairdresser? does that make me or my car girly?

And i always find that seeing a girlie in a "supposedly" Mans car is a bit of a turn on. even more so if she waves at me with a friendly smile. That makes me a bit sad really doesnt it? not girlie tho. unless i happen to be a lesbo, which i think i am. altho being male i cant see this being a problem.

I saw a flatback wagon that was being hustled about the streets by a female today and it had wood pallets on it. nearly chased after her but she was, how shall we say, "visually challenged!" or is it "of alternative looks"?
