The driver's door on my W124 estate closes and opens fine, but when closed there is a gap between the top of the door and the frame. Also, when the door is open it won't hold in any position, it just swings around depending on which angle I'm parked.

Would a bodywork shop be able to adjust it for me?

Thanks.

These things are adjustable, when you say the top does not meet the roof section, is it too low or is it sticking out at the top.

The door check is 14 in the link and easy to replace

Ah, I thought the check would have something to do with it.

The top of the door is too low, so it leaves a small gap between the roof and the top of the door. I did have a look at the Haynes manual regarding door adjustment, I had a go but with not much success.

If you want to raise the door you loosen off the bolts on the A pillar and it should slide up, the bolts on the door allow a for and aft movement.

The front wing should sit 1mm proud of the door, and the rear of the door should sit 1mm proud of the rear door and so on, this is to stop wind noise
