All door locks behaving normally except drivers door.

Drivers door won’t lock with key, or with switch on drivers door.

Alarm goes off when I open the drivers door, which suggests that the car thinks all doors are locked.

I suspect the drivers door lock mechanism is kaput and needs renewing, but my local independent insists on charging me £125 for diagnosis.

As it is only one door affected, I can’t see it being a defective control unit, but wondered if any other member had a similar problem.

Paying £125 for something I am pretty sure of leaves a bad taste!

I've just tried my 14 plate ML .... the locking works as it should via the fob, but the alarm still goes off if I unlock just the driver's door with the emergency blade.

could it just be lack of lubrication in the door locking/opening ,mechanism??

Wasn’t aware the door locks needed lubrication.
Would a squirt of WD40 do any harm?

Yes. It (Blue tin) is not a lubricant but they do make a range of lubricants these days.

The drivers door locks and unlocks ok manually, using just the key.

But dead as a dodo to any remote attempts, with either key.
