I bought my CLK sometime ago and I'm still happy with it!! Sometime ago I discovered that the driver's mirror did not work properly. Instead of it moving both up and down and "in and out", it only works up and down.
I know that the central directional controller works because when switched to the passenger mirror, the mirror moves as it should. Switching it back to the drivers side mirror does not make any difference (just incase the switch was sticky).
Movement for in and out direction is by hand. This has caused the mirror surround to come abit loose, but not completely. A squarish bit of metal - a spacer?, size smaller than a postage with a square cut out in the centre, began to poke out from the mirror. This was removed, it was not attached to anything and came out without problem.
This seems to me as it is a mechnical problem - the cogs inside the mirror have come loose? Is it likely to be so, could it be also electrical?
If anyone can advise me of the solution to this, I would be very grateful as I do not wish to fork out for a new mirror.
Regards,
