HI there, Have asked this also in trim but seems like it's more likely to be electrical hence re-asking here.

Drivers memory seat, fuse keeps blowing, backrest and squab tilt still works, however height adjust and fore-aft adjust stops working when it blows.

Fuse in there is a 25A one - someone said it should only be 15A?

I have changed the fuse, seat works for a mo, then stops, fuse blown again.

Have looked around, doesn't seem to be anything stopping/jamming the seat.

Any ideas why it might be happenning??

Best thing to do would be remove seat turn it upside down and inspect all the wiring, only 4 bolts and a few plugs make sure ignition satys off the entire seat unplugged.

If its anything like my wifes w203 seat you may be able to unclip back of seat base, motor backrest back as far as it will go, then tilt base upwards and forwards to gain access to motors and wiring etc.

Thank you

Odd thing is, replace the fuse and it's all working fine before blowing it again a few minutes later.

Also, if I motor the seat, it works fine - the fuse always seems to blow AFTER you stop moving it - i.e. the seat will go to a position, then when you go to move it again, the fuse has gone..... Weird as I would expect it to blow WHILST moving the seat...

Thanks

I had the same problem. First I isolated the seat as being the cause by unplugging it and driving the car for a day or so without the fuse blowing. Then plugged it in again and it blew. The fault was therefore in the seat.

(hint - buy an automotive circuit breaker from Farnell, it saves buying loads of fuses!)

Mentioning this to the dealer, they traced the wiring to the motor(s) and noticed where one of the wires was starting to fray where it is routed between the trim and the metal frame of the seat. Although the wires are insulated and covered in a secondary layer of insulation, it was inadequate to protect the wires.

I shall fix it at the weekend, but am glad the dealer took the trouble to investigate as I only asked them to quote for the motors. Had I of just bought new motors I would have had the same problem. (I wasn't charged for this :)
