I am replacing the upholstery in my 1968 280 SE and have run into a problem removing the driver's seat.  My Haynes manual says "Slide the seat all the way back and remove the bolts".  That worked fine for the passenger seat but on the driver's seat the front bolts are not accessible from above since they are inside the track.  The car has been undercoated with a hard plastic undercoating and there is no evidence of access holes to remove the bolts from underneath.  Before I start stripping off the undercoating, can someone tell me how the seat is attached and how to remove it?  Any other tips on replacing the upholstery would be appreciated.

Sorry. Didn't go all the way; I did consider (briefly!!) doing the upgrade to electric seats as the leather set I acquired were elec operated but the prospect of installing a wiring harnesses etc to do the job properly quickly lost its appeal!!

The driver's seat chassis was not as good as my original so I ended up changing the upholstery and still have the chassis with servo motors attached which may/may not still be in working order. Never got round to checking them out
