Finally a fault. The drivers window (sometimes) fails to close in one go. It stops 3/4's of the way up and backs up slightly. I'm thinking it's the anti-jam sensor cutting in and dropping the window back?

I should mention that I've not been happy with the drivers door since the warranty work was done and now this. It just dosen't close with the nice thunk it used to and I would expect. It kind of clangs shut, like something is not right inside. Sounds just like a Mondeo door shutting.

Well, it looks like I'll be checking out the warranty on the warranty work. Oh the irony. lol

Your Mercedes
2002 SL500, 216 CL500, all fully loaded
The reason why the window stops is that it is too tight in the guides, it recognizes a resistance and drops 5cm approx as it is designed to do, so the channels need setting up correctly.

Re the clang, hold the handle in the open position and check for any noise and that the stricker plate does not touch the lock, the door when closed should should sit 1mm proud of the rear door, and the rear door 1mm proud of the rear wing.

It looks like bad workmanship to me, all of it

Thanks Malcolm. I'll do that and I'll also be speaking to Weir Mercedes.

mine sometimes sticks when the glass is dirty. when I open the window slightly and give the glass a good clean around the edges, the problem goes away. mind you i clean my car about once every three months:Oops:
