Hi all,
Can anyone shed any light on this little niggle? When I click the window button to automatically put the drivers side window up it sometimes gets to about halfway up, stops, moves down an inch then parks. I then have to keep my finger on the button to close it fully. Also when i exit the car and lock it, sometimes if I keep my finger pressed on the lock button, it will close the window. My question is why is it only sometimes for both actions?

Regards

Andrew

The window runners could be too tight, lubricate with silicon spray, does not hurt the paint or trim. if the runners are too tight, the window thinks that some ones head is stuck in it,and so it drops again

If the above fails then re set them by holding the switch up for 10 sec once the window has closed in key 2

If I can get it fixed it will be one of the best cars I have ever had. Mind you I did love the xj8 but it was just a bit to "old image" for me apparently!

I can answer that one Amo, yes windows all the way down and spray silicone into channels. I have to keep my button pressed constantly and as soon as I release it the window stops.

Cheers

If you are using the key you have to be right in line with the remote and 12" away max. its only when the window is tight that it goes so far and then back down.

Yes as you say is the way to lubricate it, and liftig the window up and down at the same time

Electric windows button on mine works fine as once clicked it does close the window all the way but when i press the lock button on remote it doesnt always close the windows as i have to press and hold about 3 - 4 times for it to work.

I will try what Malc has suggested and see if that fixes the issue if not it cant cause any harm and lubricating rails can only be good for long term

ermmm thanks, they are replicas and only cost me £600 for 18" with tyres.

I just keep them clean so they dont flake away as they are known for due to the cheap build

Think I might look at some for mine (if it gets fixed!)....they certainly give it the sporty look.
