E 270 CDl just out of warranty, was told by dealership at recent service that there was a crack in nearside rear driveshaft and it was leaking oil; replacement charge about £1,000. Has anyone else had this problem? Should this happen after 85,000 miles? Posting on behalf of Mr Peto.

Hi I wouldn't think you could have a "crack in nearside rear driveshaft"
you say "the diff housing that's cracked"
Driveshaft & diff housing are different thing
I would get a second opinion
