Hi there,

It looks like my front disc bolts are a bit loose but I do not seem to be able to tighten them up more.
Does this look wrong?

You can't tighten any more as the bolts are tightening onto metal sleeves. It's these sleeves that are loose in the rubber donut.

Hmm and.. is it supposed to be like this or do I need to change the discs? They don't look to be in bad shape otherwise...

Never had to do one so far on a Mercedes but changed them on other makes and the new ones never had any play between sleeve and rubber. I would suspect this needs doing but hopefully someone will confirm.

Get it changed! I have one in my boot, ready to go on tomorrow. Simple job at least. Surprisingly expensive part for what it is at about £100

Yes, and possibly the other one too. A broken one may make you wish you'd spent a thousand quid replacing it!!!

My supplier sent me Febi (in place of the Lemfoerders I ordered) discs that I would not normally touch (the MB ones were around 150 quid each).

However, they turned out to be made by SGF who are OE suppiers. All well.

The one I have is mercedes original, and rubber is in great condition. The only thing I notice is that small looseness I tried to film on the above video. Does this really need to be changed? No noises, no vibration.

Not a problem that is just free play we have all got that play in our back axles ,,, Screenshot 2021-09-15 at 17-16-49 DRIVESHAFT FLEX DISC for Mercedes 190 W201 , W123 , W124 Sil...png by the way do check them both, because most cars have a front coupling and rear coupling .And look at the centre bearing .,,what is the condition of that ? can you move that up or down or sideways ? you can get these that they use on the race or rally cars .

Wouldn't fancy it not having a ramp to use.

I was lucky to be able to pick both up ,,front and rear, off Ebay genuine Mercedes couplings , only old stock ie in old type broken boxes . Purchased from two individuel sellers ..Fitted the front but the rear was fine at the time . But we will see in October [MOT] if the other is good or not .
