Hi folks,
I am driving our 1997 w202 over to Skiathos in Greece in Feb.We will use it for 6 months there then we will bring it back to the UK.What should we do to prepare the car for the long drive and 6 months of 40 degree heat.Luckily as all the taxis on the island the mechanics shouldn't have any problems with it.
The car has got 62,000 miles on the clock and no body rust.
Thanks
Darrell

Hi Darrell.

I am doing something similar in January - we are moving to Spain. All I am having done - 2 weeks prior to going - is a main service (MB Dealer). Emphasis on cooling system, all belts etc and aircon are paramount. Good Luck - and enjoy.!

I agree with Jezz. In the part of Spain where I live temperatures range between -17º in winter to 42º in summer so you want a good (preferably fully synthetic) oil in the sump plus the coolant in tipo top condition. The rest is having your aircon gased and checked for leaks.

Use branded fuel only. Filled a Galaxy TDi in Spain once and spent the next 3-4 hours stumbling along, topping up at other stations to get rid of dodgy fuel.
