Driving licence scam ?

I have had a letter fron the DVLA this mornig saying my licence photo needs re-newing--please send a new passport photo and £20 ?
( I have the new 2 part licence)
I have held my full licence since 1963 and never heard of this before and it looks official---is it some new Government moneymaking scam ? or is it just really a joke ?
Whatever wiil they think of next its frightening.

The new card type licence that has your photo on it is only valid for 10 years, so if yours is about 10 years old, it's probably not a scam.

Date from and to on your photo card under4a and 4b. No not a scam. Mine was from 07/01/05 to 05/12/11 could be because of change of address.

Don't Worry Teddy,, when you get as old as me it only runs for 4 years, but they do not charge you for a new one
