Hi,

I'm planning on driving a new E270 CDi down to Spain in a couple of weeks. It's an avantagarde with Bi-xenon headlights.

Can I use headlamp convertors with Bi-xenons? If so, where can I get some? If not, do I need to get the lights adjusted at a dealer?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Roger

Believe you need the dealer to make the adjustment...no converters for Xenons :(

Click Here to read the on-line manual then select 'Driving Abroad' to open the PDF file

According to the manual there is a switch on the back of the lights to switch the headlights to symmetrical dipped beam (rather than asymmetrical).

There is a warning at the bottom saying to always have work on xenon headlamps carried out at a qualified workshop but it doesn't make it clear whether you can switch them yourself.

Thanks for your prompt responses.

I've just phoned Greenoaks in Reading. They told me only ML, CL and SL headlamps can be converted. Now I've read the manual they are clearly wrong.

Has anyone used the device on the back of the xenon lights to switch beam direction and survived to verify it works?

Thanks

Roger

You could try removing the cap and seeing if the switch is there. Do you have the car now?

I'm taking mine to france on saturday but its only for the day so no need to change them.

No - I'm not getting it for another week. That's the problem.

Well its a great car and I'm sure your going to love it, and the xenons lights are really good.

What colour did you go for? Any other options?

left hand drive lights

Hi

All eyeball type lights on MB's have a lever inside the light which flat lines the pattern. the lever is quite difficult to find. remove the cover as though you were going to change the bulb and you should find a lever to flick up or down if you place a card in front of the light you will see when this is achieved

Excellent - thanks for your help. Looks like I should be able to do it myself.

Colour: Tansanite Blue, Extras: Auto, Leather, CD changer.

Looking forward to giving it a proper test down to Spain :)

I don't know, but I found the online manual for the E class really cool whilst waiting the few months for mine to be delivered. I know I need a life...
