Do not buy from these guys - as they are not honouring a guarantee or replying to enquiries about a purchase I made.

I bought an e320 wiring loom from them as they are very expensive in New Zealand (where I am). Well after much discussion about what my car details were - they said they had the right loom and I paid cash via a bank transfer directly to them.

The part took forever to arrive and they were not very helpful in trying to find out why. When it did arrive - I had to pay NZ customs and taxes on it before delivery - then it was in poor condition. When my mechanic tried to install it, found out it was clearly the wrong one for my car - even though I provided the cars serial number and engine number to Dronsfields and explicit descriptions of my cars make and model etc.

They are now ignoring my emails and phone messages.

It sounds like this is a common occurence. I have filed a dispute with Parts Gateway, where I lodged my request, but they have not confirmed anything with me either. Also looks like they only post positive feedback on their website....

Do not use either if you want honest responsible merchants.

PS - I will now have to initiate legal actions from NZ it seems...

I was after the plastic distributor cover for an E300. Breakeryard.com wanted £38!!! for a second hand part. I believe one supplier mentioned was Dronsfields.

I found the part via Sniffydog.co.uk, paying a whopping £3!! before P&P.
Only a twelfth of the first quote! Next time I past a Merc dealership, I'll go in and, out of curiosity, ask how much they charge.

A friend needed a light cluster for his BMW--a main dealer part was cheaper that the 3 online breakers he tried.

I was at a breakers in Aldershot yesterday & asked how much for the plastic grille insert from a 190E - "£15 + VAT " & then I'd have to spent 20 minutes removing it.

It's £12 out the door for a new one at the dealership.

The point here is that, they sell them at £15 + VAT because they can! Obviously some people never bother checking dealer prices, and just assume that the breakers will be cheaper, when in fact this is not always true. Personally, if anything I have shifted more towards going to the dealer to source parts these days. They are a friendly bunch (well, mine are, in the parts dept) and the prices are sometimes ok and sometimes a bit high. But then, the quality is better than any used part or alternative parts supplier. I know ECP can supply OEM parts too, but they're less likely to supply the right part 1st time and the hassle of returning the wrong part, to be replaced with the correct one, outweighs any original saving.
