Anyone had a problem with changing their dust caps. I changed mine a while ago for metal ones and today my Tyre pressure monitor showed by back rear left tyre was low. So I went to inflate it and the cap had locked onto the valve and then the whole valve came out leaving my tyre totally flat, luckily I have a space saver wheel.

Guessing it's a chemical reaction between different metals ? Plastic ones are your friend :D

I have known it on motorcycles if owners put in large “vanity” dust caps hat they can bend the valve over at high speed causing loss of pressure. Don’t honk yours are heavy enough for that to be an issue though.

Had one seize on me despite putting a smear of Vaseline on it. The other three were fine.

I didn't try too hard to release it in case I pulled the valve out!

£10 and a few laughs to swap the valve at my local tyre place.

It is a very common job apparently.

More trouble that they are worth, I’ve tried greasing regularly etc and they can still not budge.
I just stick to plane old plastic ones now, plus no one tries to steel them.

There are nice plastic MB ones now. Look as good as metal but don’t get stuck.

Just checked mine and all came off without a problem but will make this a regular check from now on.

Just get a pair of grips on the valve to hold it in place , and use another pair to turn dust cap, maybe a drop of WD before hand.
If you’ve get a second pair of hands all the better.
