dvd not working

hello to you all ive just bought an e55 2003,i have tried to watch a dvd on the comand but the words no dvd appear on the screen.i tried another one in case it was the disc but got the same, no dvd,is this because it does not play dvd or is there a fault,if i press the video button i have the choice of dvd or tv, the tv works perfectly well. im not interested in having working while vehicle is moving,just stationary.any help or advice greatly appreciated.thanks craig

Only the comand APS will play DVD, your car is just a little to early for that

thanks to television for the reply he says aps comand will play dvd but it would not be in mine (2003) as it would be too early.i have checked in the manuals ,handbooks etc and it is the aps comand that is fitted so does anyone have any ideas thanks craig

I believe that it has to be the wide screen version 04 on I think

it has the dvd button on screen but says no dvd when a disc is inserted,i cannot understand why it would have all the functions but not work,thanks again for your quick reply,craig

This is odd as if it plays the navigation DVD then it should play normal DVD's there is a software update, done by a CD at the dealers but nothing else listed

ive tried a dvd in nav unit does not work the nav dvd is comand aps 4.0.there is slot at the top of comand unit,it takes the disc and rejects no problem just does not play,ive tried a cd also in the slot and this will not play.if it did not say dvd on the screen i would not be bothered about it but because it does i would like it to work.i will have another read of handbooks and let you know

I had a look on the data base, if it will not play a navigation DVD then the processor in the comand unit has to be changed

the nav works perfectly well, i tried a dvd in the nav unit, which did not work then replaced with nav dvd which again works ok sorry for any crossed wires in my last reply

Then as far as I can go is to say have the update CD in the head unit, this will also fix any zone blocking that may be incorrectly set
