E 220 Cdi Loss Of Drivetrain.

I recently had a noise coming from my transmission area, which ultimately resulted in me losing drive. after leaving the car to cool for a few moments the drive came back, all be it very weak.After leaving the car over night the problem would appear to have disappeared only to come back when the car gets hot. I have been told by more than one person that because the car has only covered 50.000 miles that this is just in need of a gearbox oil and filter change. Can thin oil lead to the problems that I have experienced. The car is a 51 plate by the way.

Sounds like a problem with low atf level.
