I have 1994 E 320 MB with 105K. The RPM at idle and park fluctuates some time. This reulted in emission test failure as the test results could not be taken/invalid.

1. What could cause the RPM fluctuations?
2. What do I need to do to correct this?
3. I am also getting a check engine light. How do I read the codes?

I have already changed the air filter, engine oil and oil filter, and cleaned throttle plate with throttle plate cleaner.

I need help!

Thanks Malcolm.

You will have to tell me what an OVP relay is and where will I find it. also where are the terminals 30 and 97 in 1994 E 320 so that I can bridge them.

You say the check engine light is coming on. WHICH light is that exactly as there is NO check engine light on that generation of E320 1994.
