How would you synchronize a key bought on e-bay to your car. I did ask at the local dealer, but they said that although it could be done, they have been told they cannot do it.

You need a STAR machine and other info,, but no MB dealer can give you that info, its held by HQ only

I am so sorry you sweet lovely lady, but that is not possible as the PCB is not the same shape, you should have got keyless go, then you do not need the keys

To my Knowledge there is no way to program a key to your car unless it has been made for your car by MB headquarters.

No key off ebay is any good at all, only the casing which can be swapped like for like.

I did always believe that you could program the keys to operate the locking, but not release the steering lock.
All that was required was a re-synch procedure to be followed.

Keys are ONCE ONLY CODED from factory, dispite what you are told these key cant be re-coded for any other car!!!

I do have "Keyless Go", but I still need a key. The front where the buttons are has split on mine.

Just seen in alibaba website you can buy a MB key programmer for $770 plus import duty/VAT/Excise duties will come to over a £1K, I may do it if there is enough business.

You will do well as no one has ever done it yet,, the only ones possible are some of the commercial keys

Just program but then you still need the database of keys relating to VIN. Unlikely Merc will share the info unless you are their authorised dealer.

But these exporters alway tell lies everything can be done. They said import duty/excise/VAT do not need to be paid is definitely not true. Put a small value in the invoice to fool UK Custom is definitely not on as the importer is liable to prosecution on declaring values too low.
