Not long since used mine, I found it excellent, but one word of warning, be careful when you are releasing the compressor, the lower part can sometimes jam on the control arm and not pass through the hole cleanly. I had to 'jiggle' the compressor slightly as it was releasing to ensure it passed through cleanly.

Good luck with it, it's a very good tool :)

Fitted 2 New Front Springs Tonight,o/s Wasnt Broken But Decided To Change It After The N/s One Broke, jumped Out And The Wing Was Resting On The Tyre.took About 1 Hour To Do The First ,bit Tricky Positioning The Round Wedges, Too Much Of The Spring And You Cant Get Them Out After Releasing The Tension, too Little Spring And Not Enough Clearance. Managed N/s In About 15 Mins ,both Sides Done Without Taking The Wheels Off,job Done, wouldnt Like To Try It Without The Tool, ive Changed Hundreds Of Truck Springs Sometimes Fully Loaded To 44t But Christ Theres Some Tension On These Fully Wound Up....anyway Tool Packed Away To Collect Some Dust, anybody Need One Just Shout......

Is this for a W124?

Its better to change springs in pairs anyway.

I've changed a few springs without the tool. It involves using wire after you compress them with normal spring compressors...oh, and dismantling the front suspension.

What's a 'Pring' compressor anyway?

I have also used wires to tie up the spring (on a cortina front strut) when one of the wires snapped the spring escaped and destroyed next doors green house.

DON'T EVER DO IT THIS WAY.

£138 is dirt cheap. Good offer there to him who has not got one. I paid £200 for mine (second hand) They have paid me back in buckets.

wow £138, wish I'd known that three weeks ago, as I just used two trolley jacks, a scaffold pole, an a brass rod. Trust me pay the £138.00 if anyone is doing this job!! I had almost suceeded in my quest when I was trying to get the first bolt into the wish bone and I heard a noise, my friend (An audi mechanic) rolled away like in a war film and the spring shot about fifteen feet across the yard. Not the best way to do it!!
