E Class 211 tailgate struts

My E Class tailgate will not stay in the up position, i can see that the struts are leaking .Is the job a DIY or garage job. Any help please

Most jobs that don't require the car plugged into a laptop can be classed as DIY. It all depends on your experience and the contents of you tool box.
I have replaced the struts on my 124 and I can honestly say that whilst it is not the most technical job I have done, it has got to be the most fiddly/frustrating/foul language generating thing that I have ever tried!
There is an excellent post on this on this site. I wish I had taken more notice at the time.
