My bonnet (drivers side) is about 1/2 an inch proud above level of wing, while the other side is perfectly in line or level to wing.

Have tried to adjust side posts left & right, but the whole bonnet seems to be rigidly fixed by the (too high) center post which is not adjustable.

Had dealer take a quick look today, and they agreed that something didn't seem right somehow even though it appears to be locking down correctly.

It really doesn't look like any repair work has ever been done, and perhaps the wrong center post fitted, but of course this could have happened, and which seems the only plausable explanation.

Any thoughts - anyone?

BTW when left side pressed down right side rises, which begs the question: has it got the wrong "fixed" height center post?

Can anyone please be good enough to measure thiers & give me dimensions to compare?

Many thanks for any help or suggestions,
Keith.

A head on collision would cause exactly these symtops on a W124.
I had the same problem with my bonnet following a slight front end bump. It caused the main metal horizonal piece at the front of the car to twist slightly, just enough to make the bonnet pivot on it. It may just be a case of getting it twisted back to where it should be.

just a thought . .

Hi Pinball.

Similar on mine mate. I loosened the hinges at the bonnet bolts and made some small adjustments seating the hood a little better. Its now just a small amount proud on the drivers side.

(havnt had the italian stuff yet mate)

Best Regards

Andrew

Hi Ramius,

Was waiting for answer to email asking if I could post photocopies instead with SAE to return.

If I don't hear back in next few days will try to email to you with 10 or so pages attached.
Will send email warning 1st as per your request.

Very much appreciate your kind offer,

Keith.

PS Thanks for tip on bonnet hinge bolts, will look at that later today, and hopefully your correct in your suggestion.

Also thanks to HITT for your comments, this gives me a better insight to perhaps whats happened to the car in the hands of the previous owners.

Keith.

Eureake !!! found out why ...

Found the problem, quite by accident, saw that water tubing that runs from radiator top to header tank, was trapping between bonnet & lower resting shelf causing corner to lift off prouder than opposite side.
Tucked hose under shelf & all level now.
