Would anyone with a 124 estate please be so kind as to measure the distance between the back seats (when upright) and the inside of the boot (when closed), as I often have a need to carry long & wide items, and I'd prefer to do this without folding the seats down.

For comparison, it would be interesting to know how a 210 model compares as well if someone could post that please.

W124 is 49 inches from seat back to tailgate. Remember of course that given the sloping seat back, it would be slightly less higher up! ;)

Thanks for that info - now does anyone have a figure for a 210 E-class please?

Come to think of it, is a C-class from 96-98 much smaller? It does look it in pictures I've seen.

I believe a W210 estate is about 4 inches longer than a W124 and that most of that is in the rear so I;d expect the load area to be a couple of inches longer

The C Class is about ten inches shorter than a W124 so the load area will be much smaller

Hi,

figure for a 210 E-class
Depends how high your items are. E.g. at the bottom of the back window to the top of the seat back is 37"; however, at the top of the tailgate to a vertical line to the back of the seat is only about 23" or 24" (add 3" to those dimensions if you remove the dog stopper/load cover thingy).

is a C-class from 96-98 much smaller?
Much smaller - remember, the E can take a third row of seats in the boot.

Hth.

Regards,

Thanks for the replies everyone. I often carry large, wide but fairly flat packages, so it is the lower area under the load cover that is the important dimension.
