T212 facelift, 2013. A few toys including pan roof, 19" rims, Harmon Kardon, nappa, privacy glass.
Andy, it must be a Kent thing, my 2001 E class does the same. I posted a similar query but no joys on this one I'm afraid. It doesnt get warm and only occurs when the lighht comes on and off on mine sot I have left it and soome 3/4 months no probs (touch wood)

Normal or HID lights? Try disconnecting the vacuum line at the back of the cluster if its a standard light. The lights will angle down but if the noise stops you've found the problem.

I thinks Andy's problem relates to the interior light rather than the headlamp (if not, I'll be gutted I've not got the vacuum dipping interior lights -:lol:)

Yeah just spotted that! DOH!

If its buzzing, its probably because the light will use a dimmer circuit, and over the years various components in the light cluster become loose because of hysterisis from the transformer (if it has one).

What you'll have to do is completely remove it and check all components are tight, and that includes solder joints.

Hi,
Does the E class have the little sniffer vent for temperature sensing ?. My C class did, and the motor went noisy like you describe. Strip and oil the bearing, fiddly but do able.

thanks for your replies lads, had a better look and it seems to be coming from a seperate unit within the interior light unit and is not connected to the lights(it is behind a vent on the main unit and is connected to a four pin plug..could be what sixpack has said)...why is their a tempreture sensor in the car?-i have standard air con,not climate control

MB standard AC is temperature sensitive, you set the dials to whatever temperature you want and it tries to maintain it. It just doesn't have motorised flaps.
