Hi all, I've a 2001 E200 and am considering one of the newer shaped E200 cars (2002-2005), in particular a 2005 model. I head that if a rear light blows that the entire lamp cluster needs to be replaced at great expense!!

Can anyone comment on this? It's probably acceptable if the lights last for a huge length of time...but its does sound dodgy.

The latest info I have is for the 211004 where the lamps do not appear to have normal bulbs, the unit uses a replaceable PCB with the lamps, you do not have to buy the whole lamp cluster.

Thanks Malcolm, that's interesting.

Do you or anyone else know how long the lamps tend to last? I assume the PCB contains the brake, reverse, indicator and rear fog light.

The one that I looked at had 4 bulbs/lamps, the fog is only on one side.
what ever lamps are used they could always be soldered onto the board.
I would.

I think the reason for this new design is to increase bulb life from lack of external vibration?

Or perhaps to make more money for MB, call me a cynic......

How could you think of such things of MB Parrot, what ever gives you that idea.
