Has anyone else experienced this?
Prologue:
Got my E class about 3 weeks ago from MB direct (W211 04 Plate). Before picking it up I was told it had ahad a B service. The last consecutive fridays I happened to be driving in mid/heavy traffic and after about an hour on both occassions had a "check coolant level" notice pop up on my dash. Did check the coolant level this Saturday morning and found it to be almost empty! Should this not have been checked during a B service??
Now to the main gist of the post, this got me sufficiently worried that I phoned up my indy and took the car in that morning for a 'once over' and to top up the coolant. During this check the car was hooked up to the diagnostics PC and we got output saying the SBC pump had failed the checks. My indy said this was a known recall issue and that Merc don't like to admit it prefering to wait until your car has run out of warranty and hitting you with a £1200 PLUS bill. Needless to say I have been in touch with MB direct and the car is going back this weekend to get this sorted out.
Will keep you posted.
A search on google for "E class sbc pump" brings these up...

An Update:
I had come across this while researching prior to buying the car and asked them about it and they said all up to date recalls had been done
