E Class: SRS & Airbag Warning Light On

E240 Saloon Yr 2000

SRS & Airbag Warning lights ON only when Front Passenger and Driver Seat Occupied. All OK when Driver only in car

Is this a DIY repair/ reset or another visit to the Mercedes Dealership at £93 / hr + parts

Any help or advise gratefully received

I do recall there being something about load sensing on the passenger side in the manual i'll have to check.

Has the car always done this???

Hi Gordon

Sounds like the passenger seat recognition sensor is playing up. Because it only comes on its more than likely connected properly. Check the yellow conection under the seat.

To replace you will need to remove the seat & strip to replace. Whether its a DIY depends your expertise. If your in the midlands & travel down. Then drop in & we can sort it. Otherwise its back to the stealership.

No this has only come on in the last 2/3 weeks - no obviuos reason why

Still means the recognition sensor is playing up.


If you want to be sure get the fault codes read. If the tech is using the Star is will come up as a current fault.

Has anyone heard of the same fault with only the driver in the car? I am new to this Forum and I am experiencing the SRS light warning repeatedly in the last month on a Oct 04 E270 Avantgarde at 10000 miles. Dealers useless
