anyone got onfo on alarm keyfobs?
got home tonight and the alarm wouldnt come on?
locked the car with the manual key and swapped over the batterys from the spare set of keys
went back to the car and nothing still?
tried the spare keyfob and still nothing
credit card hammering started going through my mind by now!
tried both the keys in the igniton and nothing//no igniotn either
came in got the slim master key and that worked the igniton..thank god
tried the second key again and it started to work!
tried the first key again but still nothing

now does the thin master key enable the next key that goes into the igntion or is it just a fluke it started working??
i guess its possible i have damaged the first remote when changing the batterys??..but why did the second key not work at first?

god this is confusing me now too !!

heres hoping someone can shed light on the problem..PLEASE

which type of keys do you have?
The metal type with proper key and lock or the newer infra red types?

The metal keys use a radio frequency transponder around the ignition barrel wich operates the engine immobiliser.

The immobiliser just recognises a chip inside the keyfob and does not depend on any battery indide the key. The battery is used with the remote central locking and alarm functions only.

If the alarm were not disbled, then it would sound when trying to turn the ignition key.

If the car does not start on turning the key, then the immobiliser chip inside the key may be damaged or has become not recognised.

however, I think that there is a procedure for reinstating keys with the immobiliser.

The newer infra-red "keys" work a little differently.
