E200 automatic wont start

hi any help would be so appricated... i have a 1998 e200 automatic petrol. the problem i am having is, just before xmas i was driving and parked up 2 go to the shop, when i got back in the car wouldnt start, it turned over but just wouldnt connect.... this never happened before, no light came on dash 2 indactate what was wrong. had it towed home. next morning i got in and it started ok.. a week later it happened again.... and later that nite it started ok 4 me,, now boxing day it happened 4 the 3rd time,, but it will not start altogeather, inothing happens when i turn the key,,, im a novice when it comes 2 cars so any advice would be so apprictated.

is the engine turning over but not trying to start or is it dead

the engine was turning over ,,, but just wouldnt start

when the cps sensor starts to go faulty they work when cold then pack up when hot thats why i think it might be the cps as it starts when it's cold again .the only way to test is with a multimeter & if it's faulty you need a new one
