E200 cruise control

The cruise has never worked on my e class since ive had 2 people have told me that it could be a vass sensor or the stalk? Any ideas anyone?

There is a lot to these systems, a bad hall sensor in the cluster or an amp fault,,,as soon as I get a minute I will check the list

For Information what year is the E Class?

Its a 1997 p plate.

Could be the brake light switch, this has multiple contacts and the cruise control bit can fail without affecting the brake lights.

A new switch is cheap and easy to change, cheaper even than having the codes read which is the other way to pinpoint the problem.
