e200 cutting out

hi my name is rich im new to the forum.
I bought a e200 auto off a friend and every now and again it will cut out. Its like it isnt getting enough fuel through. When i get it to idel and even slightly tap the throttle it cuts out. When i bought it the lad said he had it in the merc garage and they couldnt find anything wrong wit it. i have some mechanical skill and it has completly thrown me.

Hello and welcome to the MB forum,, a few more details please, when you say it cuts, in what form. Does it stop and have to be re started, or does it splutter or hesitate

Is this only from cold or only when hot

whens the last time it was serviced or had filters/spark plugs changed? and how old is it and what teh mileage?

If this is an M111 engine I would look at the Motronic Valve on the throttle body. ECP £280, Mb £560 breakers £80. Quite common. Or maybe even a bootstrapping of said part.

its a 96 and has done 150k ill be doing a service on it this weekend. wehn its cutting out i can turn the ignition on and let the fuel pump prime and then start it and its fine but if i turn it on and dont let the pump prime its cuts out.

Still thinking about this,hardy likely to be fuel pump or filter as it would cut at speed too.

How does it idle? My first thoughts would be a air leak in the inlet system!
