Would anyone have any information regarding this model. I have seen one that i am interested in but have heard that problems may occur with the electronics in this generation of E200.
Thank you

Welcome...

You have hear right, but its not the E200. Its the E. I have a long litany of trouble and poor service. Bad electronics is only part of the story.

If you are intent on buying get the car fully checked out by an independent Merc specialist. I am sure there are some here who will tell you who is best. Get EVERYTHING checked, get the car on a lift for a full visual and if you can get an MOT test. Guaranteed the will find one item and that alone will cover the cost of the test. I saw one owner here hit for a £1100 plus parts bill for power steering unit 8 days outside warranty. I know of an S class fleet owner who had a door lock failure in a slightly more than 2 year old s-class which MB would not honour. Two elderly Japanese guys had to climb out the back windows. He still is a fleet owner only he swapped the Mercs for a fleet of Lexus LS430. Now when he collects S class customers they all get a free test ride in a Lexus!!.

Don't buy without getting an extended warranty for as long as you possibly can. If you are buying from an MB dealer get a full service done. Check out the service book and what should be done in each service- the service specifications are all printed in the back of the service manual/log book. And before your warranty expires bring the car back for an independent inspection.

They are great cars to drive, I do 25-30k, but they are prone to breakdowns of all sorts and unless you know a good independent or have a very good local MB service centre [rare] you should give this some serious thought. I never was near a tow truck until the E class and then twice on one in six months.
