E200 UK registration confusion

Is it possible for a car to be registered prior to release?

What I'm trying to understand is, when people reference W210's I was led to believe this was based on the chasis number from 1996 - 2002 models. However my car is a 1995 E200 2.0 Classic (Auto) and is a W210. So going back to my first question could a W210 96 Model still have been registered in the UK in 1995 as it's put me off buying so many things seeing the 1996 onwards warnings.

A car normally comes on to the market in 08 to be a following year car and yours sounds quite normal

210s were released to the UK market in 96 on an "N" reg. However, UK is usually quite late at getting new models compared with other Europian countries, so yours is quite possibly a RHD import.

Yes, mine had a similar date issue. Apparently there was also a large batch imported (Cyprus or somewhere) and it took a while to shift them. Yours could be one of them.

Thanks guys for clearing that up. At least now I know I can purchase parts for my car regardless of them saying 1996 onwards. Thats a weight off my mind and all I have to do now is get the console sorted.

p.s. after your posts I descided to go through my Mercedes pack and opened up the maintenance booklet and there in the front is the new vehicle Pre-delivery inspection page, with a signature of someone at Mercedes Dealership in Surrey UK stamp dated 08-11-95

so I take it this must have been a very early delivery of this model if not an import.
