There appears to be black smoke on hard acceleration which leaves soot on the bumper, is there any tips or tricks to get the egr valve out to clean it, it seems stuck tight?

Have you tried loosening the bolts but not removing and then revving engine? Someone on Youtube removed the bolts entirely and when he revved it blew the EGR up in the air

Black smoke is usually caused by an incorrect fuel to air ratio mix or possibly excessive soot in the inlet manifold on that model. Cleaning your EGR is pointless, its electronic, it will either work or it won't and any soot that is in there will be minimal compared to what is blowing through your inlet manifold.
