E220 ALARM cannot switch off

Bought E220 estate 1 wk ago, alarm remote lights but does nothing.
Replaced batery today (lost voltage) on re connection alarm triggered and I cannot switch off.
Can anyone help PLEASE ????
PS Where is the reciever for the reomte control?
by the way nearest dealer 1+1/2 hours away.
