All, hopefulyy this is posted in the correct section, I have a E class 220 cdi 2001 reg 85,000 miles on the clock, over the last 3 weeks 3 times I have had an intermittent error appear on the dash with the amber lights appearing, the error reads

ABS, BAS ESP fault, please visit workshop.

When I have received the error I stopped turned off the ignition and then re started the car and the error has gone.

Any Idea's???? its rather worrying

i Think if you are lucky this may be the old brake light switch, apparently easy to do, 10-15mins, and the parts less than a tenner, please do a search for brake light switch or bas esp fault, its extremely common and has been discussed many many times, perhaps an admin could sticky a bas/esp thing to the top? :p

Thankyou all for your comments - your right Jberks - it was quite worrying waiting to turn right at the Gillette Corner on the A4 with the dash lit up and beeping like no tomorrow.......also did the same to me on the M25 in the fast lane doing about 90mph!!

Scary! I will pop into MB.....we have one down the road in Orpington and get a new switch.

Thanks again

Matthew
