Hi all, first post here, asking for my brother as he has no internet a.t.m. Twice now , on two separate occasions I have been out to put something in the boot of his car. On both occasions I pressed the lock button on the remote twice , once to lock and once to set the alarm as I do on my x type 06. On both occasions my brother later went to leave, and while the car unlocked on the remote, and the interior lights came on with normal brightness, the car wouldn't start. I put the battery on charge, the charger telling me there were 11.7 volts in the battery. Ran recon programme on battery anyway. On refitting the battery the car started and ran fine. This has now happened twice, a couple of weeks apart. The car has failed to start three or four times now after the second incident, my brother fitted a new battery even though I was convinced the issue was ignition/ imobiliser related. Brother on tight budget, any help/ thoughts would be much appreciated. Best regards David.

Hello and welcome

11.7 is not good, should be around 12.6v when sat and over 14 when charging.

Could just be the battery at the end of its life. If you have a parasitic drain it will show up fairly soon...

There’s quite a lot in Mercedes and not all switch off when they do unfortunately. Many threads on here about it and how to measure voltage drop across fuses to identify culprits.
