I own a 52 plate, face lift E220 Cdi Auto. I have had it in to several garages including Mercedes and the fault remains.

At 2000rpm it 'hunts' regardless of speed. It shudders when accelerating up through 2000rpm and goes away when past it. When cruise control is active or when driving manually at 70mph, that is the 2000rpm band and you can see the needle go between 2000 - 2400rpm. You can also feel the car lurching ever so slightly.

Mercedes wanted to replace the exhaust so I took it to an independant who did it at a fraction of the cost. I have had Mass Airflow Meter checked and various sensors changed but no difference. No fault codes are being stored in the ECU.

I am at my end.... can anyone please help ???

Hi sounds like it could be a gearbox fault, this model was known for glycol contamination which damaged the lock up clutch
